Should have been a easy run ha ha

Well even though Carl planned out the tides and the distances for Plymouth to Dartmouth the weather hasn’t followed the plan, so the forecast was for winds force 4-5 and slight to moderate seas, well we though only 6-7 hours to Dartmouth we should be ok to get down in time before a bad weather front hits tomorrow were the winds will be gale force, so we set of and all was good, had to change into foul weather gear but things weren’t to bad then the sea started to get a little rougher and unfortunately when Christine put on her foul weather jacket it turned the relief band off (relief band is an electronic version of the sea bands, usually works fantastic) so in a few minutes of the sea changing Christine was sea sick and went below to lie down, carl sailed on in the hope of getting to Dartmouth but as the sea was getting worse and the wind was picking up (getting stronger) and still need some single handed kit Carl was struggling to reduce the sails, thankfully Christine was a real trooper and came on deck in full foulies and helped with getting the sails down.and we bailed out and went into Salcombe for a day or two to wait for a storm to pass, a very eventful day, confidence in the yacht has increased greatly.

Well that’s a bit of a forgetful start

Well after a long travel down to Plymouth on the train after seeing Robbie Williams in Manchester on Friday night we had a reasonabley good night’s sleep on tiger lily, unfortunately Carl forgot to bring the sleeping bag that usually is in the car, we only have one single quilt on board so with the adapt, improvise and over come the new bath sheet were drafted in to be blankets for Carl ha ha

Out sailing single handed, bit scary

Well after a morning and most of the day not having the light winds and git good gusts and rain, at 4pm I decided to go for it and see if the speedo was working, so was only going to be a run with the engine but once I got out the sea was smooth and though I’ll try and get the main up and it went up with a little bit of work, then I was cheeky and got the genoa up as well we hit 6.96 knots.

Happy day, client wait till Christine is with me and we are heading back to the north east.

We now have a dingy! Unfortunately the outboard is not working

Well as we are hoping to anchor on a few days and nights on our trip back to the north east, we decided that we needed a dingy to go ashore on, so after a few eBay searches we found on for sale in Whitby with a 2 horse power outboard great! After a cheeky bid got it for £260, brilliant! So picked it up from a very nice guy called bill, the dingy easy inflated and looked great it was then I was told that the outboard hasn’t been used in 3 years but should be ok but will need a service YEAH right, so after a day servicing the thing and it doesn’t start I’ve stripped it down a little more, broken gaskets a duff spark plug and cooling system half full of sand, bugger, £25 of parts ordered and hopefully we will get it going next week, Screenshot_20170514-194702.png

Well she has been launched and didn’t sink lol

Well on the 8th of may, Christine and me got up at the ungodly hour of 3am to start our drive to Plymouth to see tiger lily being RE launched, the previous owners had spent the last weekend design winterising the yacht so changing water in the engine running the engine putting all the sails and other important bit back on ready for us to take her, it was a scary time seeing the yacht we have bought hanging around 15ft above the water https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10156035975003056&id=631393055
